This section shows the descent of the Ambrose family to Alice Vernon Wilson. It begins with a Lutheran farming family from Alsace-Lorraine headed by Matthias Ambrose and his wife Elizabeth Wilheit, who emigrated to Philadelphia in 1732. It follows them to Maryland where they mix with other German farmers, then to Baltimore and on to New Orleans. This is a very short descent; Alice’s mother is three-quarters German and the immigrants are not far removed from her life. Click on the link to read.
